Causes Grouped by strength of evidence
Diffuse interstitial pulmonary fibrosis caused by inhalation of asbestos fibers that may progress despite discontinuation of exposure and can have a latency period of 10-30 years. The incidence of asbestosis has diminished markedly with protective measures.
