Antoinette (Toni) Stein, PhD
With a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree, Antoinette "Toni" Stein has years of experience as an engineer. She worked in research and development in materials and process laboratories for General Electric both in their Aircraft Engines and Medical Systems divisions. She has further experience in the Procurement Division of Environmentally Preferable Purchasing for the State of California. Toni worked for the Department of Public Health with the Division of Environmental and Occupational Disease Control.
Toni has served on several Boards, Commissions and Advisories including Chair of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools’ (CHPS) Indoor Environmental (IEQ) Committee developing Best Practice Manual standard criteria and updates including National Core Criteria; Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board; Berkeley Community Health Commission including the Health Equity sub-committee; and the Zero Waste International Alliance ZWIA ZW Certifications Committee. She has previously served on the Citizens Climate Lobby; Menlo Park Planning Commissioner; San Mateo County Congestion Management and Air Quality Commission (CMAQ); Bay Area Air Quality Management District Hearing Board; and the San Mateo County Solid Waste Advisory Commission.
Toni's current focus is on developing precautionary technical best practice criteria with Sustainability Standards to reduce the impacts of health exposures in the built environment. Toni is the coordinator of CHE's EMF ScienceServ.
