Maria Williams

Program and Administrative Manager

Maria Williams, CHE's program and administrative manager, has been working in the environmental health field since 2003. Starting as an on-the-ground outreach educator for King County's Household Hazardous Wastemobile, she served for six years at Toxic-Free Future (formerly Washington Toxics Coalition) as information services coordinator, research and education associate, and project manager, focusing on educating the public about toxic chemicals and promoting safer alternatives. She also managed original research studies investigating the presence of toxic chemicals in children's products and building support for passage of the Children's Safe Products Act of Washington. Since 2009 she has served as editor for the Institute of Neurotoxicology and Neurological Disorders, founded and directed by CHE advisor Dr. Steven Gilbert, managing and contributing to various educational publications and websites. Maria holds a BA in environmental studies from Oberlin College and a professional editing certificate from UC Berkeley, is based in Seattle, and was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.
