Shanna Swan presented data showing higher serum Phathalate levels in infants treated with some baby care products. An audience member raised concern about this and asked how they can learn more about this and other cosmetic exposures and educate others on the risks of exposure. Shanna replied that we needed more study on the topic, as well as, education of the public. I wanted to point out that the California Safe Cosmetics Act, which is being implemented at the present time, requires Cosmetic manufacturers to disclose chemical ingredients known to cause reproductive harm or cancer. So the public should utilize the Safe cosmetics Act as a opportunity to learn about the safety of cosmetics, whether they should switch to a safer products.
