Hi Lisa,
The CHE Toxicants and Disease Database Home page also lists links to many other databases that may be useful for you (http://database.healthandenvironment.org/). You may also find excellent resources on the Environmental Working Group website at http://www.ewg.org/.

I thought Sherry Selevan's comment on using a life-cycle approach, and archiving samples, is right on. We need to take this same approach in the laboratory. When we do longitudinal, transgenerational studies on lab animals, we should try to save everything we can for future analyses.
My question is: how do we find the space for freezers and the money to keep them?

For many exposures we are just beginnign to understand the genetic risk factors involved. Given the ability of genetic susceptibilty markers to improve the resolution of env. Toxicant risks - shouldnt we really try to saving DNA samples for future analyses as the genes controlling susceptibility become more defined?

For Laura:
You mentioned the need to incorporate the consideration of stress in furture studies of birth outcomes. How can this best be done? Through questionnaires, measuring cortisol levels etc?
