The PBDE bill passed in WA bans the use of deca in mattresses right away - and bans the use of deca in electronics and household furniture after identification of a safer alternative by our state Departments of Health, Ecology, and a fire safety committee. This additional analysis of an alternative to deca was essential to securing passage of this first-in-the-nation ban on deca and it creates a useful model for alternatives assessment policy.
