Under Dr. Schwartz's leadership, the Institute is expanding its work related to clinical medicine, including environmental lung disease. Dr. Schwartz will discuss new directions for NIEHS related to respiratory health including clinical research programs, interdisciplinary training initiatives, as well as the Institute's on-going research areas.
Prior to NIEHS, Dr. Schwartz, an internationally recognized leader in the investigation of occupational and environmental lung disease and practicing physician specializing in environmental lung disease, served at Duke University, where he held concurrent positions at the Medical Center including Vice Chair for Research and Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
